Invisible Text and Blank Characters
Characters that look empty but count as text, for blank names and messages. FAQs and more ▾
1 × Hangul Filler · works in most apps
U+3164
Won't paste? See below for the character each app accepts.
Where will you paste it?
Invisible name on Discord
1 × ㅤ Hangul Filler as your display name or server nickname.
- Copy the blank name.
- Open User Settings › Profiles, or a server's Edit Server Profile.
- Clear the display name, paste and save.
Your @username only takes lowercase letters, numbers, periods and underscores, so it can't be blank.
Invisible name on TikTok
3 × ㅤ Hangul Filler in your profile name (not your @username).
Empty message on WhatsApp
1 × ⠀ Braille blank. WhatsApp won't send spaces alone.
- Copy the empty message.
- Paste it in the chat and send. On iPhone, paste it twice if the send button doesn't show up.
Looking for an invisible emoji? It's this same character: send it alone or put it between emojis.
Line breaks in your Instagram bio and captions
1 × ⠀ Braille blank on its own line keeps the gap Instagram would otherwise remove.
It counts toward the 150-character bio limit. Want styled letters too? Try Instagram fonts.
Fortnite, Roblox, Free Fire and Among Us
1 × ㅤ Hangul Filler. It usually works in games that allow a blank name.
Free Fire: 4 × ㅤ; if the name is taken, try 5 or 6, or mix in a halfwidth one (ᅠ). Among Us: ㅤ works as a blank name.
Roblox usernames only take letters, numbers and _, and display names are filtered, so there's no reliable blank name. Fortnite doesn't publish which characters it accepts; try ㅤ in your Epic display name.

U+2800
Full width. Empty messages and blank lines.
Halfwidth Hangul Filler
U+FFA0
Half width. For when your blank name is already taken.
Zero-width space
U+200B
No width. Splits words or links without a visible gap.
We leave out U+115F, U+1160 and U+1D159: they show as a box on iPhone and Mac. Plain spaces don't work either: most apps strip them.
More for your profile
Invisible text is a Unicode character that shows nothing but counts as a letter, so apps that strip plain spaces keep it. That makes it a blank character for an invisible name on Discord or TikTok, an empty message on WhatsApp or a blank line in your Instagram bio. Copy the empty character above, see which one each app usually accepts, and paste the result in the check box to see exactly what your blank text holds.
Which invisible character to use
ㅤ Hangul Filler (U+3164): full width, for names in apps and games.
⠀ Braille blank (U+2800): full width, for empty messages and blank lines.
ᅠ Halfwidth Hangul Filler (U+FFA0): half as wide, for a blank name nobody has taken yet.
Zero-width space (U+200B): no width at all, to split words or links without a visible gap.
Why a normal space doesn't work
Apps trim spaces from the start and end of names and messages, so a name made only of spaces ends up empty and gets rejected. The Hangul Filler is a Korean letter and the Braille blank is a symbol: they draw nothing, but apps treat them as text and keep them. We leave out U+115F and U+1160, two other Hangul fillers, because iPhone and Mac draw them as a box.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- What is the invisible character?
Usually U+3164, the Hangul Filler (ㅤ): a Korean letter with no shape. Apps treat it as a letter, not a space, so it stays where a space would be removed. The Braille blank (U+2800) and the zero-width space (U+200B) are the other common ones. - Why doesn't a normal space work?
Apps trim spaces from the start and end of a name or message, so one made only of spaces ends up empty and gets rejected. - Why does it disappear when I paste it?
Some apps clean out invisible characters. Try the Braille blank or the halfwidth filler instead, and paste the result in the check box above to see what's left. - How do I set a blank name on Discord or TikTok?
Paste one Hangul Filler (ㅤ) as your Discord display name or server nickname, or three as your TikTok profile name. Your @username can't be blank on either app. - How do I find or remove invisible text?
Paste it in the check box above: it tells you how many invisible characters it holds and which ones, and "Remove invisible characters" clears them in one tap. - Can I get banned for a blank name?
We don't know of any cases, but each game sets its own rules and can change them in an update.
