Want your name to stand out in every server? Our Discord font generator turns your display name, server nickname and About me into fancy text you can copy and paste straight into the app: ๐“ฌ๐“พ๐“ป๐“ผ๐“ฒ๐“ฟ๐“ฎ, ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฑ, sแดแด€สŸสŸ แด„แด€แด˜s, โ“‘โ“คโ“‘โ“‘โ“›โ“”, ๏ฝ๏ฝ…๏ฝ“๏ฝ”๏ฝˆ๏ฝ…๏ฝ”๏ฝ‰๏ฝƒ and more fonts for Discord names. The styles that look best on Discord come first, and a live preview shows each one in your display name, About me, status, a server nickname or a message before you copy it. Keep the limits in mind: 32 characters for names, 190 for About me and 128 for your status.

How to change your font on Discord

  1. Type your text in the box at the top.
  2. Choose where it goes: Display name, About me, Status, Server nickname or Message. The preview shows your text as it will look in that part of Discord.
  3. Try styles. Tap a style in the list to see it in the preview, which stays on screen while you scroll. The styles that look best on Discord come first.
  4. Copy and paste it. Tap "Copy", open Discord and paste it where you chose: User Settings โ€บ Profiles for your display name and About me, Edit Server Profile for a server nickname, your avatar menu for a custom status, or any chat for a message.

How do Discord fonts work?

Discord shows all text in its own font, and it doesn't let you change the font other people see. So these aren't really fonts. They're Unicode characters: symbols from the universal character set that every phone and computer shares, the same one that emojis come from. Your keyboard has a normal "A", but Unicode also has "๐“", "๐—”" or "๐”ธ", which look like the same letter but are different characters.

Because you paste characters rather than install a font, everyone in your servers sees them, on desktop, phone and the web. Discord turns a few enclosed letters (๐Ÿ…ฐ ๐Ÿ…ฑ ๐Ÿ…พ ๐Ÿ…ฟ) into emoji, which would break up your name, so we left out the styles that use them.

Discord text formatting: bold, italic and more

Messages and About me have their own formatting, called markdown: type a few symbols around your text and Discord styles it for you. Markdown doesn't work in names, which is what the Unicode styles above are for.

What you typeWhat you get
*italic*italic
**bold**bold
__underline__underline
~~strikethrough~~strikethrough
||spoiler||A spoiler, hidden until clicked
`code`Inline code
```code```A code block
# HeaderA big header (## and ### are smaller)
-# subtextSmall grey text
> quoteA quote
- itemA bulleted list
[text](url)A link that shows only the text
Headers, subtext, quotes and lists go at the start of a line. For colored text, Discord uses an ansi code block, whose colors show on desktop and the web but not on mobile.
Tips for a name that stands out and still gets found
  • Keep part of it plain. People can still @mention you by your username, but a styled display name is harder to find by typing it. Style one word, or keep your usual name readable next to the decoration.
  • Check the server's rules. Some servers have rules or moderation bots that reset decorated nicknames, so plain letters may be the safer choice there.
  • Mix styles with emoji. Your display name and About me take emoji too, so โœจ or ๐ŸŽฎ next to a styled word works well.
  • Think of screen readers. Tools that read text aloud can spell styled letters out one by one, so keep important information in normal text.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
  • Can I use these fonts in my Discord username?
    No. Your @username only takes lowercase letters aโ€“z, numbers 0โ€“9, underscores (_) and periods (.), so styled letters won't go there. Style your display name or a server nickname instead: people can still @mention you by your username.
  • Where can I paste Discord fonts?
    In your display name (up to 32 characters, in User Settings โ€บ Profiles), a server nickname (32 characters, in Edit Server Profile, if the server allows nickname changes), your About me (190 characters), your custom status (128 characters, from your avatar menu) and messages (2,000 characters, or 4,000 with Nitro).
  • How do I write bold or italic text on Discord?
    In messages and About me, use markdown: **bold**, *italic*, __underline__ or ~~strikethrough~~ (see the table above). Markdown doesn't work in names, so for a ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฑ or ๐“ฌ๐“พ๐“ป๐“ผ๐“ฒ๐“ฟ๐“ฎ display name, copy a style from this page.
  • How do I get an invisible name on Discord?
    Use a blank character instead of styled letters: our invisible text page has the one that works as a Discord display name or server nickname.
  • What font does Discord use, and can I change it?
    Discord's interface uses its own font, gg sans, and you can't change the font other people see. That's why these styles are Unicode characters, not fonts: they show up for everyone who reads your name.
  • Why did my server nickname go back to normal?
    Some servers have rules or moderation bots that reset decorated nicknames, and some don't let members change their nickname at all. Check the server's rules, or keep the styled letters for your display name and About me.
  • Where can I use these Discord fonts?
    Copy-and-paste fonts are supported on most platforms, including social networks, messaging apps, and editors. Copy the style and paste it wherever needed.
  • Are these fonts free to use?
    Absolutely! This generator is free to use, and you can copy and paste any Unicode font style without paying a thing.
